Lakers finding rhythm again
After a discouraging losing streak, the Lakers appear to have rediscovered some on-court chemistry — even while shorthanded.
In Friday’s win over Memphis, LeBron James and Luka Dončić led the way, combining for:
- 65 points
- 15 rebounds
- 14 assists
Both stars looked comfortable sharing the offense and closing the game. Jake LaRavia also delivered another strong performance, stepping into a larger role with Austin Reaves sidelined and helping compensate for the Lakers’ ongoing defensive struggles.
Defense remains a concern
Despite the win, defensive issues continue to frustrate head coach JJ Redick. Once again, he pointed to breakdowns in execution and players failing to consistently follow game plans.
On the floor, Marcus Smart provided energy and defensive intensity in key moments, particularly late in the game. Still, the Lakers struggled to contain Memphis’ dribble penetration — a major problem against a Grizzlies team led by Ja Morant, who relentlessly attacks the paint.

The newest name on the injury list is Adou Thiero, who was diagnosed with a right knee ligament sprain and will be re-evaluated in approximately four weeks.
